Roger,
Thanks for your trip down memory lane. I worked for the Central Indiana from 1969 to 1973. When I started I was only 19 and had no idea I needed to be taking pictures of the track, engine and roundhouse. I guess I thought things would last forever then. When the wife and I make a trip to Noblesville my talking starts around 16th and Madison where I tell her how we used to ride cars after midnight and keep our lanterns off and could hear rocks hitting all around us thrown from residents.
Then the time I cut off a couple of cars and 3 loads of sand headed for Brockway in track one at the Michigan warehouse. The sand pushed the cars through the fence and into the dock on track one knocking out the springs and wheels and a large piece of cement on the dock. Then we make it to Raible Ave where she hears about a load to emge packing.
Onto SR32 where I show her where the track used to be and tell about the night we were in the caboose returning to lapel and a car shot the side of the caboose with a shotgun. We returned several nights with the caboose lights out lying on the floor. After a few miles she says "you told me this 1000 times. Sometimes I don’t realize the good old days are the good old days until they are gone.
There were several pictures I should have taken and several souvenirs I should have kept. All I have is a CI lock key from those days.
Anyway thanks for taking the time to take all the pictures and all the work you have done for us.
