It was dark outside and I was listening to the scanner. There was a locomotive fire about MP 246 or 247. No one injured and the train was brought to a smooth stop and the fire put out. The fire department was now clear of the tracks. Arrangements were made to use the third locomotive of a train waiting at South Anderson Yard to provide lead power to the damaged train. The crew was to unhook from their train, go around the DOW and onto the other track and go to the disabled train where the other crew was to unhook the third engine and manover it into the lead.
Ok, now it is light, I dress, grab my camera and head out. These shots are the result.

The Western Maryland 7436 should be an SD 35 and the 7471 is an SD 40. These are heritage units in fresh paint.

12/25/2012 in Marion, IN - Herzog work train on Christmas Day
Here are a few shots of a Herzog work train I spotted on Saturday before Christmas. I wasn't able to get any photos until Christmas Day parked on the NS Red Key North Siding in the west pocket. There are a lot of ties to be removed by this train from CP-79 to somewhere north of Wabash. I don't know how far they replaced ties this last fall. I am guessing this train will be around for around 2 weeks or so.
