KCS 4607 AC4400CW Leads a Northbound NS on the DOW.
The call came that a KCS was trailing unit on a Southbound NS. Maybe it would be leader on the return. It was and I got in position to get the shot. It came, I squeezed the button and… nothing. The battery was down. Two minutes later, the camera functioned. Saying nasty things, I drove ahead stopping two places to get batteries. Nope. I wasn't about to pay $2 a battery. Taking the chance, I ran ahead and positioned myself to take the shot into the setting sun. Of course the camera worked that time giving me a crappie photo. I've since bought new rechargeables.

Driving down 29th Street, I looked over to South Anderson Yard and was surprised to see a GP30 in CSX paint. On the return, I swung by and took these shots of CSX GP30 2226 now a 'Road Slug', but still every inch a GP30.

Sometimes a trip to South Anderson produces great results! Westbound, we have:
1st row: CSX 8388 SD40-2, FURX 7925 SD40-2, BNSF 7763 ES44DC front & rear
2nd row: CSX 5271 ES44DC front, radiators and rear
3rd row: BNSF 5892 ES44AC (Brand New) rear & front, 5271 & 5892
And Y121 came by switching with CSX 2644 GP38-2 in fresh paint.

NYC 6894 (0-6-0 class B-10W) arrived in Connersville, IN as a donation to the Whitewater Valley Railroad. It was unloaded from the flatcar on 2/27/06. The third photo shows it by the restored (Dearborn) interlocking tower from Lawrenceburg.

BNSF 963 Dash 9-44CW in a Heritage Scheme on the RIP track at South Anderson. I shot it in the early AM against the sun (yeah, right). Hulcher came in the next AM to repair it, but the weather was the usual terrible overcast and raining.

Caught NS 2699 SD70M-2 Northbound at 25th Street heading for the DOW. The third unit was NREX (National Railway Equipment CO.) 5475 an ex-SOU SD40-2 High Hood. Not being pleased with the shot of the NS lead unit, I ran ahead to get in place at John Street near the old Anderson High School. He opened the throttle coming around the curve (beautiful, beautiful). Unfortunately, this shot was even worse. (Mutter, mutter, mumble, growl.)

Came the dawn and CSX EMD MP15AC 1156, refurbished and in fresh paint, was to be picked up from South Anderson and taken on by an Eastbound. Yes, it had been here a couple of days before I got over to get these shots. As the conductor noted, there were still some dings and dents, but she looked great!

Charles Malinowski said, "In Broad Ripple next to the Monon Trail is an old wooden caboose that could use some TLC and a better home than it has now. FWIW."

Here was a high and wide stopped near Jackson Street. It was a Mammoet and a purdier transformer you couldn't ask for.

Kevin Nelson said. "Since the skies were clear for the first time in over a week, I decided to take a short trip to
Anderson for a few hours for shots on the CSX Indianapolis Line. Here are 2 photo links of the more interesting catches of the day.

I finally caught it! It is the CSX Inspection Train pulled by CSX 6025. It came together well and although it was overcast (raining), It let off just in time to get the shot at Pitt Street.

KCS 4612, an AC4400CW, at 32nd Street Westbound. Unfortunately, the second, third and fourth units would also have made good photos, but they train was moving too fast.
